Shri Sai Baba's life and teachings are well documented in Sai Satcharitra by Shri Hemadpant in Marathi which was personally blessed by Shri Sai Baba.

Shri Hemadpant got Shri Sai Baba's blessings in 1910 to write this work. Said Shri Sai Baba "Let him make a collection of stories and experiences, keep notes and memos; I will help him. He is only an outward instrument." Subsequently SaiSatcharitra has been translated into a number of different languages. The one in English is called Shri Sai Satcharitra by Shri Nagesh Vasudev Gunaji.

The following is a very short summary on the life of Shri Sai Baba to serve as an introduction. We recommend that you read one of the more authoritative books to really understand the life and teachings of Shri Sai Baba.

Chandbhai, the headman of a village called Dhoopkhede (in Aurangabad, India), once lost his horse and was looking for it. Suddenly he heard a voice say "You look tired. Come here and rest a while". He turned around and saw a young Fakir (Baba). The fakir smiled at him and said "What are you looking for in this jungle, Chandbhai". This surprised Chandbhai and he wondered how the fakir knew his name.

Slowly, he said "I have lost my horse. I have looked for it everywhere, but cannot seem to find it". The fakir told him to look behind a clump of trees. Chandbhai was pleasently surprised to find his horse grazing peacefully behind those trees. He thanked the fakir and asked his name. The fakir said "some people call me Sai Baba."

Sai Baba then invited Chandbhai to have a smoke with him. He got the pipe ready, but there was no fire to light it with. Sai Baba thrust a pair of tongs into the ground and brought out a burning coal. Chandbhai was wonderstruck. He thought "this is no ordinary person" and invited Baba to come to his house and be his guest for a few days.

Next day Baba went to Chandbhai's house and found everybody in a very joyful mood and festivities going on all around. He found that Chanbhai's wife's nephew was getting married. The bride was from Shirdi and the marriage party was going to Shirdi. Chandbhai invited Baba to accompany the marriage party to Shirdi. At Shirdi they camped in a field next to Khandoba's temple. After the wedding, Saibaba stayed on at Shirdi. At first he lived under a neem tree and begged for food whenever he needed it. He then went to Khandoba's temple, intending to stay there, but the temple priest met him at the entrance and told him to go to the mosque. That is how Baba, started staying at the Mosque which was later called Dwarkamayi. Baba preached at Shirdi all his life and performed numerous miracles to convince people that God exists. He healed people's diseases, provided moral and material comfort to his Devotees. Baba helped bring Unity and Harmony between all communities. He said that God is one, but called by different names. He said follow your own religion and seek the truth. One day a rich millionaire named Booty came to Sai Baba and said he was going to construct a stone building for Shri Krishna. Baba helped him plan the building. Before the building was completed Baba fell very ill. On the 15th of October 1918, he breathed his last. His last wish was to be buried in Booty's building.

Booty's stone building came to be known as Samadhi Mandir. Shri Sai Baba was buried here and a beautiful shrine was built over it. To this day, people flock to Shirdi to pay homage to Shri Sai Baba.

Shirdi Sai Baba Arati in English
Oh Sai Baba, we wave lights before You, the bestower of happiness to the Jivas. Give us - Your servants and devotees rest under the dust of Your feet. Burning (destroying) desire, You remain absorbed in Your Self and show the Lord (God) to the aspirants. As one feels intently, You give him experiences or realizations accordingly. Oh kind-hearted, Your power is such! Meditation on Your name removes our fear of the samsar. Your method of work is really unfathomable as You always help the poor and helpless. In this Kali age, You - the all-pervasive Datta, have really incarnated as Saguna Brahma. Ward off the fear of samsar of the devotees who come to You every Thursday so as to enable them to see the feet of the Lord. Oh! God of Gods, I pray that let my treasure be the service of Your feet. Feed Madhav and (you should utter your name here) with happiness as the cloud feeds the Chatak bird with pure water and thus keep up Your Word. Amen !

Gita Jayanti Bhagavad Geeta Jayanthi 2011

Gita Jayanti, also referred as Bhagawad Geetha Jayanthi, is the day when the Bhagvad Gita was rendered by Lord Krishna to Arjuna in the Kurukshetra on the first day of the famous 18-day battle in the Mahabharata. In 2011, the date of Gita Jayanti is December 6. Gita Jayanthi falls on the Ekadashi day of Shukla Paksha (the bright half) of the Margashirsha month (November-December) in traditional Hindi calendar. The greatest quality of Bhagavad Gita is that it prompts you to think, it prompts you to take decision, and it prompts you to look at life differently and refreshingly and all this without surrendering your individuality.

Bhagavad Gita adapts to the present and discusses an issue by rooting itself in the present. Every moment a confused Arjuna opens the Gita to take the advice of Krishna. And through the immortal Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna has been discussing and debating and finding solutions to the various problems faced by the confused Arjunas for centuries and will continue to do the same forever.

The day is observed all around the world with the reading of Bhagavad Gita, which is referred outside India as the Bible of the Hindus. Discussions and seminars are organized on the day.

All Hindu temples, especially those dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna, conduct special pujas on the day.

The ideal way to celebrate Gita Jayanti is by reading at least a stanza from the Bhagavad Gita.

Lord Mehandipur Balaji
Thousands of devotees of Lord Shri Balaji comes every day to Mehandipur Balaji to pay homage. It is the belief that lord Shri Balaji not only cure the "sankat" but also provide "riddi and Siddi". As the legend goes, around 1000 years ago the images of lord Shri Balaji, Shri Pretraj Sarkar and Shri Bhairav dev appeared in the valley of the hills of Arawali range. The appearance of Lord Shri Balaji in Arawali hills is chamatkar of this saga. Shri Ganesh Puri ji Maharaj was 11th Mahant of this temple. Earlier this area was thick and dense forest, full of wild animals. The ancestor of Shri Mahantji saw the lila of Shri Balaji in dreams indicating three divine deity and magnificent temple. He also heared divine voice ordering "get up and be prepared for my duty". But he was unable to see any one. Ultimately Lord Shri Balaji appeared before him and ordered "Take duty of serving me". The ancestor of Shri Mahantji started puja and arti regularly. In early days of puja some miscreants tried to dig out the deity but they could not reach the bottom of the statue as it is the part of the hill"Kanak Bhoodharakar Shareera". There is small pot in feet of deity . The water in this pot never dries due to continuous flow of water from left side of chest of statue of lord Shri Balaji . On reaching Mehandipur Balaji the people come to know how malignant/ evil sprit and black magic cast their spell and how the sankatwalas get relief/cured from sprits and ills. The disciples are advised not to be fooled by sants and fakirs but contact pujariji in his office.

Nag Chaturthi Puja Nagula Chavithi Pooja Date 2011 Mantram Stotram Importance Festival Ashtanag Seven hooded Cobra Worshipped

Nagula Chavithi, also known as Naga Chaturthi, is observed on the fourth day of the waxing phase of moon in Kartik Month in Andhra Pradesh and parts of Karnataka. A popular story associated with the day known as Naga Chaturthi Katha is listened or read on the day. It must be noted that there are several versions of Nagula Chavithi story and this is one among them.

Manasa was the daughter of Brahma and she studied under Lord Shiva. She was called Manasa as she was born from the mind, or manas, of Brahma. She was so pious that she did intense tapas and got the darshan of Sri Hari Vishnu.

Manasa was married to Sage Jaratkaru. The couple had a son named Aasthika. Manasa and Sage Jaratkaru had split before the birth of Aasthika. Therefore Aasthika studied under Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva and became very famous and powerful sage.

Years later King Janamejaya performed Sarpa Yajna to kill snakes as Snake Takshak was responsible for the death of his father, Raja Parikshit.

As a result of the yajna, all the snakes fell into the yajna fire and died but Takshak did not appear.

Soon King Janamejaya found that Takshak was circling around the seat of Indra, king of Devas, in heaven and Indra was protecting him.

Immediately Janamejaya ordered the saints to chant mantras to bring Indra down to the yajna fire. Soon the seat of Indra started to fly and it came down on to the Yajna ground.

The Devas approached Lord Brahma to save Indra. Brahma suggested that only Manasa can help them. Manasa promised the Devas that her son Aasthika had the power to help them and he will rescue Indra.

As ordered by his mother, Aasthika saved Indra, Takshak and other snakes by stopping the yajna.

For saving them, the snakes gave Manasa the boon that whoever listening to her story or reciting her name will escape from snake bites and all types of Naga Doshas.

Nag Panchami and Nagasashti are observed after Naga Chaturthi. The dates to observe Naga Panchami is November 10 and Naga Sashti is on November 11. Naga Chaturthi is also celebrated in Shravan month, just the day before Naga Panchami.

Nagula Chavithi Pooja:
Nagula Chavithi, a festival to worship Nag Devatas (Serpent Gods), is mainly a women festival. Nagula Chavithi is observed by married women for their wellbeing of their children. During the Chavithi festival, women keep fast and observe Naga Puja. Devotees offer milk and dry fruits to Sarpa Devata at the Valmeekam or Putta (snake pits). On Nag Chaturthi day, Ashtanag (seven hooded cobra) is worshipped.

Nagula Chavithi in Kartika masam is a major festival in Andhra Pradesh and some parts of Karnataka. The rituals and puja procedures are different from place to place. Some people place Naga devatha idol at home and perform puja. But in some places, devotees go to ‘Putta (Snake pit) and offer naivedyam and perform other pujas there.

Kushmand Navmi is named after Kushmand fruit (pumpkin). It is also associated with the legend of kushmandasur Vadha (demolition of demon Kushmanda) by Lord Vishnu.

Kushmand Navami is associated with a popular legend of two brahmin brothers called Dhananjaya and krishna. They lived a happy life together and when they died Dhananjay attains the heaven whereas his brother, Krishna, was sent to hell. It is because of their results of puja and daan during the month of Kartik. Dhananjay performed Kartik Snan and donated a pumpkin full of gold to a Brahmin. Tulsi Vivah Vidhi Sms 2011 Date Kartik Poornima Prabodhini Ekadashi Tulsi Vivah 2011 Date, Kartik Ekadashi 2011 Tulsi Puja Tulasi Shaligram Pooja

Tulsi Puja, also known as Tulsi Vivah or Tulasi Shaligram Puja, is observed during the waxing phase of the moon in Kartik month. Tulsi, Holy Basil, is associated with Lord Krishna and is found in majority of Hindu homes and lamp is lit in front of it and worshiped daily. In 2011, the date of Tulsi Puja is November 6 for those observing it on Uthana Ekadasi. November 7 for those communities observing it on Karthika Shuddha Dwadashi or the day after Ekadasi. Some communities observe it on Kartik Purnima, which is on November 10.

Tulsi Vivah The tulsi plant is held sacred by the Hindus as it is regarded as an incarnation of Mahalaxmi who was born as Vrinda. The festival of Tulsi Vivah is celebrated in each and every household of Goa. The one special feature of the festival is that of preparing various delicious sweet dishes at home. The women folk engage themselves in preparations well in advance. A typical Goan ojhe (load of sweets) is sent to the daughter from her parental home along with jodi (cotton threads used to light lamp while performing aarti).

Tulsi was married to demon king Jalandhar. But she prayed to Lord Vishnu that her demon husband would be protected, with the result that no god was able to harm him. However on the request of the other gods, Lord Vishnu took the form of Jalandhar and stayed with the unsuspecting Tulsi. When the truth emerged after Jalandhar's death, Vrinda crused Vishnu and turned him to stone (Shaligram) and collapsed. From her body emerged the tulsi plant. That is why Vishnu pooja is considered incomplete without tulsi leaves. Tulsi vivah is celebrated on the next day of Kartiki Akadashi. On this day tulsi is married to Shaligram.
On this day tulsivrindavan is coloured and decorated as a bride. Sugarcane and branches of tamarind and amla trees are planted along with the tulsi plant. Only vegetarian food is cooked on this day. At midday, a full meal consisting of rice, moongachi gathi, puri , sweet potato kheer , red pumpkin vegetable cooked with pieces of sugarcane, amla and tamarind is offered to Tulsi Vrindavan. Tulsi vivah ceremony takes place in the late evening. Various poha dishes are offered to Lord Vishnu. Then prasad is distributed among family members and friends. tulsi vivah 2011, tulsi vivah vidhi, tulsi vivah sms, tulsi vivah 2011 date, kartik ekadashi 2011 Tulsi Vivah is the ceremonial marriage of the Tulsi plant (holy basil) to the Hindu god Vishnu or his avatar Krishna.
